The Official Airport Assistance Network of the World Airports
Perth Airport is situated some 12km east of Perth CBD, and there is some practical rather than flashy methods of transport. Travel time to the city is usually 20 - 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Airport Line Train (T1/T2 & T3/T4)
The Airport Line links Perth Airport directly with the CBD of Perth through Redcliffe and
Airport Central stations. Trains operate very often during the day, and the trip to the city
centre takes about 18-20 min. Airport Central Station is connected to Terminal 1 and 2 by a
short covered walkway and Redcliffe Station connects to Terminals 3 and 4 by means of a
shuttle bus.
Taxi Services
Dedicated taxi ranks outside of each terminal, metered fares to Perth CBD. Travel time is 20
- 30 minutes on average, during normal traffic. During peak arrival waves, short waits can be
experienced, but generally, taxis are available during the day and night.
Ride-Hailing (Uber, Ola, DiDi)
App-based ride services work from pre-set pick-up zones outside each terminal. Pickup
points are clearly signposted, and it is possible to book on the app, so there isn't too much
waiting around at busy night time arrivals.
Public Buses (Transperth)
Several Transperth bus routes run to the airport linking to surrounding suburbs and train
stations. This is the cheapest option but it may necessitate transfers and a slightly longer
travelling time if compared to the Airport Line.
Car Rentals
Major rental companies such as Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar and Thrifty have counters at
the airport. Rental car facilities are within walking distance or a short shuttle ride within the
terminals depending on arrival point.
If you're arriving in the late afternoon peak hours, the Airport Line train often gets you to the CBD faster than taking a road transport due to city traffic.
Perth Airport offers the normal amenities expected by international and domestic travellers, which are mainly focused in Terminal 1.
Currency Exchange & ATMs
Currency exchange counters are available in Terminal 1 International departures intercourse
arrivals. ATMs can be found in all terminals, and in domestic precincts.
SIM Cards & Connectivity
Free Wi-Fi can be accessed throughout all terminals with easy registration. SIM cards are
available from convenience or travel retail outlets in Terminal 1 International, for short term
Australian data plans.
Baggage Services
Baggage trolleys are provided at all terminals. Oversize baggage handling and airline
baggage service counters are located in respective check-in areas. Luggage wrapping
services may be available in Terminal 1 International during peak travel periods.
Medical & Pharmacy Services
Basic first aid assistance is provided through airport staff if necessary. For over-the-counter
medicine and travel necessities, for limited pharmacy-type products, convenience stores in
Terminal 1 International are available.
Lost & Found
The airport has a central lost property service, with separate counters for airline-specific lost
property.
Accessibility Services
Elevators, accessible restrooms and mobility-friendly pathways are available between
terminals. Wheelchair services can be called for in advance through the airlines, especially
significant in changing from one terminal precinct to another.
These essentials make Perth Airport a functioning and traveler-focused airport, though planning ahead, specifically for international connections, helps ensure a smoother journey.
Stay within your departure terminal. Enjoy a meal at Long Chim or coffee at The Coffee Club, browse duty-free if departing internationally, and relax in a lounge if eligible.
Take a taxi or rideshare into Perth CBD (approximately 20–25 minutes). Walk along Elizabeth Quay or visit Kings Park for skyline views, then return to the airport at least two hours before departure.
Explore Fremantle’s historic port area or Perth’s city centre. Plan to leave the city at least three hours before an international departure to allow for traffic and screening.
